Nokia plans to buy the Symbian and make it Open Source

Symbian operating system which has nearly 65% of the market share for the operating systems in the Smart Phone category is now to be made open source. This might make it more competitive and fine to stand its ground when other platforms have emerged from top players like Google and Apple. (eg. Android, linux and mac).

Once Nokia has successfully acquired Symbian completely and has made it Open Source, Symbian will catch hold of the complete market wiping out the new comer and well expected Andriod platform which every developer is worried about. When we have Symbian already supporting the Java format and has its own platform.
